Now What? Conference 2013 is Over

Despite a winter flurry that kept only the most distant attendees away, Now What? Conference went off without a hitch.

Close to 160 web and marketing professionals descended upon the Belbas Theatre at the Washington Pavilion last Thursday to experience the first ever Now What? Conference. We don't want to brag, but we think it was a rousing success.

Despite a winter flurry that kept only the most distant attendees away, Now What? Conference went off without a hitch. Seth Gottlieb opened the conference diving into the facts and figures of content management, while Melissa Rach followed with a deep look at how corporate communication should act and work. Blend’s Deane Barker took on organizational news, and EPiServer’s Bob Enger showed us how we can start making our CMSs more personalized and social.

After lunch, we kicked things off with Cathy McKnight’s presentation on customer-centric websites dedicated to service and engagement, followed by Blend Interactive’s Corey Vilhauer discussing the need for empathy to fuel organizational change. Finally, Molly Malsam gave us a primer on web writing and usability, and keynote Lisa Welchman looked deep into the future of both the web and organizational governance.

And just like that, following a short after party at Blend’s office, it was over. Since, attendees have shared with us their takeaways — including a better understanding of content strategy, a clearer view on how content governance can be handled within organizations or with clients, and the realization that web professionals really like cats, speedos and mid-90s punk lyrics.

Gottlieb, in looking back at the inaugural conference, had nothing but kind words to say:

The audience was totally locked in to every presentation. It may have been the topics, the format, or the fact that it was a one day conference. Maybe the awful weather scared away the folks who were just looking for a cubicle break. I am not sure how else to explain how engaged the audience was. The lobby outside of the theater was barren during the sessions. Everyone at the conference was in their seats and taking notes.

This is not the end, however. This is just the beginning. We have already begun planning Now What? Conference 2014. If you want to keep up on the details, sign up for conference emails today!
