A Family of Sites For a Classic Technology Company

A design partnership with a fellow agency led to several Episerver projects for the Imation line of products, including TDK and Memorex.

Before single-state drives and flash storage, data was stored in a more traditional way: on tape. And who was a bigger proponent of tape than Memorex, TDK, and the companies owned by Imation?

Through a partnership with a fellow design agency, Blend worked with the Imation umbrella of companies over several years, spinning up and maintaining several Episerver (now Optimizely) implementations up until their closing in 2017. Blend had a hand in nearly every public-facing consumer site, starring some big brands from the backup and recording space: ExtremeMac, TDK, Memorex. At one point, Blend was actively supporting a half dozen sites on behalf of Imation.

But pure marketing content wasn’t the only purpose. Several of Imation’s consumer-facing sites included integration with existing product catalogs, creating a kind of e-commerce architecture — products managed from a unique database, including custom product fields, and managed beyond the CMS.

Over time, our partnership with Imation included strategic planning for a partner portal, taxonomy work to help ensure categories stayed consistent, and ongoing support of their existing sites. All fueled by the trust built between their team, their design partner, and our ongoing dedication to great Episerver development.

Project results.

  • A fruitful partnership with Imation’s agency-of-record to provide custom Episerver development
  • Ongoing support and maintenance of a half-dozen marketing sites
  • Infrastructure and load maintenance for big launches, updates, and promotions
