Developing a Roadmap for Digital Transformation

Gaining alignment across multiple departments for a new direction, a new content team, and a brand new CMS.

We’re often asked to help organizations understand and plan for their current needs. But sometimes we’re able to look long term, with a mind for the future. This was the case with a regional healthcare system.

Blend worked with a national healthcare testing laboratory to develop a multi-year roadmap for a new content platform, with a mind toward long-term digital transformation. This project included deep discovery and research with stakeholders and product lines, as well as several strategic exercises to help shape the purpose and requirements of both their content strategy practice.

Additionally, guidance toward staffing and maintaining a content team — both in who they might hire and what skills they would require — led to parallel roadmaps for both content platform integration and content team governance.

By helping begin several content platform-facing deliverables, such as a high-level content model and appropriate key performance indicators, they were able to intelligently select a content management system and plan for the future of their content team.

Project results.

  • A multi-year roadmap that outlined implementation and staffing of a new content platform
  • Full team alignment on the goals, key performance indicators, and current content ecosystem
  • Use model documentation to help visualize how users would encounter the proposed content model
