It takes more than a degree in computer science and landing a job to be a great developer.
It takes keeping up with the latest technologies, separating the wheat from the chaff, and putting the time and effort into learning new skills and integrating those skills with existing processes.
Fortunately, developers here in Sioux Falls can be better prepared to discover new frameworks and new ways of thinking at this year’s completely free South Dakota Code Camp, Saturday, November 9 at Raven Industries in downtown Sioux Falls.
This year, Blend is well represented with two developers ready to share their own findings.
First, Blend Developer John Pavek will be talking TypeScript, a superset of JavaScript that adds optional static typing and other autocompletion benefits that can ensure future you and fellow developers will be better prepared to use functions and pass data in the correct ways months down the road when you’ve forgotten why you wrote that code the way you did.
Meanwhile, UI Developer Michael Todd’s talk will focus on the CSS framework Tailwind, which proposes a new way of thinking about styling on the web. Rather than writing CSS in a separate file, Tailwind employs utility classes that go within your HTML to add color, layout, and other pizzazz to websites.
(John and Michael are excited to share their knowledge with the good developers of Sioux Falls. Now if they could only team up with someone named Montgomery and put together a John Michael Montgomery cover band. I swear, by the moon and the stars in the sky, that would be amazing.)
